: I currently own a Carvin 6 string (with EMG's... love it!), and Alembic Epic 5 string fretless....
: I found myself in gigging in Texas without the fretless, and the Carvin not working (thanks to my stupidity... it dropped out of its gig bag 3 feet onto its electronics on the pavement... my wife said I shreaked like a 5 year old girl... no offense, ladies). My backup bass, a vintage early 70's Guild MB2 picked that moment to succumb to the environment (very hot!) and stop working also. Long story made short... I bought a Mexi Precision Bass Special 4 string (has a Jazz bass pickup in addition to the P bass pickup)for under 500.00. I had totally forgotten how fun it is to play one of these. It has that great Fender sound, and I had a ton 'o fun on the funk tunes with this thing. I very well may be re-sold on Fender basses. I still love the 5 and six string - they bring too much versatility to the gig, but this Fender P bass is a sweetheart.

Yea, I know what you mean. I have two custom P-Basses(they have two sets of P pickups) besides my Gecko 6, Alembic 4, and Jazz fretless. When I get invited to a jam, i always seem to grab the precision. Its comfortable, like an old glove. Its the perfect bass. No matter what basses i get in the futere, I will always have my precisions!.....late.....john
