: : Does any one know of a good fretless bass that sounds like an upright? I realy need one for the jazz band i'm in and i don't have a lot of money so im talkin cheap. any suggestions? thanx

: A fretless electric that sounds like an upright?? Tough quest. The only thing i can think about is the Rob Allen bass, which, according to the happy folks who own one, can sound pretty darn close. But then again, an Allen (or any other bass of comparable quality) will set you back several bills. Sorry, I think there insn't much help I can give you on this one.
: Buena suerte and keep those basses up front in the mix,
: El Pájaro.

I agree EL!
It seems like "Quality" and "Cheap" normally don't go hand in hand.
probably the best thing you can do is get an electric/accoustic bass and get either a fretless or have it's teeth pulled.
But about any good acc.electric bass will set you back about a minimum of $500.+ dollars.
if anything else look on E-bay. I've seen some nice Ovation acc/elec go on there for $300-400...
good luck.
