Sorry about the cross posting to the acoustic board but it's kind of relevant to both:

Hello all:

I'm an intermediate bass player, usually in the jazz-soul-funk sort of vein and I'm used to using a Fender Precision Bass.

However! I just came across an acoustic bass by Aria, 2nd hand for 400 bucks, and played around in the shop, sounded and felt very nice indeed. It also had a preamp and pickup so it sounded good plugged in too. This is the first time I've played an acoustic bass and I really quite liked it. 400 bucks is a little steep for me at the moment, so I'm asking you folks to give me some good reasons either to go ahead with the purchase or not to go ahead with it.

Is there a problem playing with acoustic basses live (e.g. feedback or cross talk)?
Do their necks tend to warp more easily?
Is Aria a reasonably decent brand in general? And does 400 bucks sound like a good price?
For anyone used to playing both electric and acoustic basses, what are your comments on the differences between the two?

I know these are a lot of questions but any help you can give would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

chundle
