I mostly play a double bass with a Realist pickup, I also have an old Jazz Bass with the frets filed off. My current amplifier is an Acoustic 136 (100watts maybe, 15" paper cone)purchaced new in the early 70's which, by the way, was the last time I've been to an electric instrument store. Whoa!
So to start out I bought a Bag End D10BX-D (two 10's) and I may get an S18-D. The two heads I'm interested in are the Mesa M-2000 and the Eden Navigator preamp and QSC power amp combination. I was able to audition the Mesa and heard the bottom of my fiddle for the first time! The Navigator must be ordered but I was able to audition the QSC in my hi-fi system. It had the same tonal qualities as a Carver amplifier I had auditioned last year. I'm guessing they share the same type of power supply.
So I'm hopeing someone has had some experience whit either of these systems or could suggest something else to check out.
Some of my concerns are:
Can I drive both 4 ohm cabnets?
Do either of these preamp sections have a true stereo outputs? And do I even need to worry about that?
The Mesa seems to be the most flexable, but I really don't know that, and that QSC can REALLY grip those drivers.
My priorities are: fidelity, flexability, powerhandling in that order.
Thanks for any help.
