The bassist is there to carry on with the whole band; he has to be the reference of guitars, pianos, saxos and any other kind of "melodic" instruments. The bass has an "harmonic" part in a band. Ans as you say, some of Tremonti's riffs rocks when you play it on bass (and he does that in some songs) but he is still the same kind bassist of Van halen's one!!!. But to prevent any kind of polemics I've to say that I love Creed, I love Van Halen and I love every kind of music I can hear!!;))
