Hello, bass players!

I'd like to let you know that Hal Leonard has just published my fourth book (fifth, if you count the Stuart Hamm transcription book I did). The new book is called "Blues Bass." Like my other books, Blues Bass is designed to be a practical, useful, real-world instructional book on how to understand and play the blues on the bass. It covers history, various blues styles, tags & turnarounds, endings, etc., and also includes an extensive discography for recommended listening, categorized by style. But the primary value of the book lies in the way it emphasizes the groove! I've laid out dozens of blues bass grooves, in all keys, for you to learn and practice (and groove on!). I have also included a chapter devoted to blues bass soloing, which also covers all keys. All grooves and solos are recorded on the accompanying CD, which also has guitar and drums.

By the way, my other books, all published by Hal Leonard, are: "Funk Bass" ( a slapping technique book, with foreword by John Patitucci), "Funk/Fusion Bass" (a fingers-style technique book, with foreword by Verdine White of Earth, Wind & Fire, and endorsed by Victor Wooten, Rocco Prestia and others)and "Rock Bass" (the ultimate compendium of rock bass grooves, tracing the genre from the 50s through the 90s, endorsed by Tim Bogert of Vanilla Fudge and B.I.T., David Ellefson of Megadeth and Tom Hamilton of Aerosmith). All my books are groove-oriented, contain chapters on soloing and all come with CDs.

I think you'll get a lot of mileage out of these books. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or comments. Thanks!
