: I have seen a second hand "Squier" bass by "Fender" which is five string for Ł150 and apparently very rare.
: Is it good/is it worth buying (does anyone know)??? I don't know much about buying second hand basses and I have been playing for over six months now.
: If anyone could write some info down on what to look out for when buying a second hand bass then that would be VERY appretiated. Thank you.
Squier is the name of Fender's most affordable line of instruments. These instruments look pretty much similar to Fenders but the quality of the materials, attention to detail and construction is somewhat inferior to actual Fenders (thus the lower prices).
As far as price goes, it looks like you live in the U.K., so I cannot tell you if the price you mention is fair, since I don't have an idea about the current prices for second hand instruments in your country. Check out classified ads in local papers to see if similar instruents sell for similar prices.
What to look out when buying a second hand bass? Mainly, make sure the instrument actually works! Check out electronics work well and don't make excessive noise. Watch out for scratchs 'n dents in the finish of the body. Make sure the neck is straight enough so it doesn't buzz when fretting. These things should give you an idea of the condition of the instrument. If it's not enough, come back for more!
Hope this helped,
