: : I was playing at a gig about a week ago and broke my E string. That sucked but I had a back up and it was all good. Well anyway my friend, who also plays bass, said that was the first time he has ever seen someone break a bass string. By the Way I play Ernie Ball Super Slinkys and play really hard and jump around alot so I abuse my strings alot. Is this strange like my friend said? Anyone else a frequent string breaker?

: I myself have never broken a string and I go psycho on them, but a friend of mine who does the same, breaks at least a string a month, whether at gigs or just practicing. So I don't know why he does and I don't...By the way, how are Ernie Balls? I need to get some new strings, mine are old as hell. How are they as far as tone and durability? I've heard their guitar strings are great, so I was thinking of checking the bass strings out.

Try GHS Bass Boomers. I just replaced my old Slinky's with them and they sound alot better than my Slinky's did new... They're pretty inexpensive too...
