: Ok folks, My bass guitar sounded just fine. Everything clean and clear all over the neck.
: About an hour ago, ALL OF THE SUDDEN, the 'A' string started buzzing. It buzzes
: open, and it buzzes everywhere else up and down the neck. It's pretty trashy sounding.
: It almost sounds as if it were plugged into a distortion box. I've checked everything
: I can think of, the nut, the bridge, checked for loose screws and other hardware, and I just
: can't figure it out. And yes, it buzzes 'unplugged', but the other strings sound perfect
: and solid. So, question! Could it be that the string went bad. I've played guitars for
: about 20 years or so and I've never ran into a problem like this. It sounds like a bad
: fret buzz, but the best I can tell, it's not a fret problem. I'm going to change strings
: regardless, just wondering if anyone has any experience in this subject.
: Any other ideas????? I also took the string off,, looked it over and cannot see or feel
: any problems.

Hi there,
Yes, it can be the string went bad. That's deffinitely a possibility. However, check your nut slot. Sometimes roundwound strings wear the slot so fucking bad, the slot becomes too deep and you end up with an annoying buzz. Anyway, if a new string solves your problem, don't forget to post it back here.
Buena suerte and keep your bass up front in the mix,
El Pájaro
