Hi everyone! This is my first time to the message board, and I hope you guys can offer a little advice. The music stores around here are pretty pathetic, and I have to drive several hours to test any real instruments I'm interested in. I've played bass for a little over two years and have been exploring all different styles. I use an American Fender Deluxe Active Jazz Bass that I love! Great Bass! However, I'm a big Red Hot Chili Peppers fan and, since I've been practicing and developing my slap technique, I'd like to pick up a 2nd bass for the cause. I've seen Flea play his signature bass (made by Modulus) and I totally dig the look it has; however,I've always heard that Ernie Ball Music Man Basses are the authority on the funk sound I'm looking for. I've never played either, and obviously I'm going to have to. I was just hoping you could offer any insight, advice, or opinions you have about this. Thank you so much! Also, if it's not too much trouble, could you maybe also email your replies in case I don't have time to check the board again before I go shopping around? Thanks so much! agent_fisher@hotmail.com
By the way, if it makes any difference in your advice, I think I'd like to stick with a four string bass. Thanks again!
