: Hello,

: I was wondering if someone could help me with this dilemma: Once I purchase a 5
: string bass, would I really need my 4 string for anything else? Also I was wondering is the Yamaha RBX 260 Bass considered a beginner instrument or professional one?

: Thanks,

: Charles

I don't know the yamaha you ask for so I couldn't tell you if it is a good choice or not (but yamaha has very good basses). It doesn't matter if you have a five string and a four and a six and whatever you have!!. They are different basses; you can use one in standard tunning and the other in an alternative tuning or you can use two basses because one has a blues sound while the other is more funk. It doesn't deppend of the number of the strings!!.
Hope this helped
Enjoy life as it was your music
