Hey Arnoldo...Stainless strings have both a brighter sound and a longer
life. Stainless steel is less prone to corrosion which causes the sound
to deteriorate. Stainless strings do have their drawbacks however..
They will eat your frets quicker, they're harder on your fingers,
cause more string noise and overtones, and they do cost slightly
more than nickel plated strings. Personally I only play stainless
roundwound strings; they give me the sound I prefer..My favorite
strings on the planet are the D'Addario Prisms. I made the switch
after playing 25 years on Rotosounds. The Prisms are the best
bass strings on the market, IMHO. BTW, It took almost 20 years
of playing Rotosounds before I needed my first re-fret...So it
does take a while for roundwounds to eat your frets down to the nub..
Your results and mileage may vary, however...
