hey man, as you can see....everybody has got an opinion. personally all i play is four strings. but thats me. if you are a beginner and are looking for that one bass that stands out and says, "I am the bass for you", then you need to go to your local music store
and play as many basses as you can get your hands on. And talk to the sales person about this. if he cares he will help you out. if he lookin to sell "whatever", then look for another sales man....or store for that matter. by the time you are ready to buy that bass there should be no doubt
in your mind what you want. believe me....you will know.....john
