ONE MOST IMPORTANT THING NOT MENTIONED IS AS FOLLOWS: With a 5 string,
you have only 5 more notes to play, if you use them chromatically. Three
if you don't. AND, if you're smart, and play with
a dropped D tuning for tunes in D, or A, or G, maj/min you can reduce the amount of TOTAL notes to only 3: B,C, and C#. Is it really worth it? The electric bass guitar is a 40 year old invention, but the acoustic cats have been playing the finest, most complicated music in the world for 400 years with 4 strings! Need I say more? I think not!
