Hi Kenny,

All the things you take to task here are indeed valid opinions! Some even have basis in fact.... Every time I put my buddy's Yahama 5-string on a tuner (I have perfect pitch, but have difficulty hearing that B-string w/ any precision) the indicator is all over the place when tuning the B-string! Unlike the E,A,D,&G strings. To me, that validates the opinion that "B-strings are sloppy". And yes - a thicker string would, IN FACT, bring more tension to reach the same pitch. If you play electric guitar at all, try replacing that .008 most rockers use for the E-string w/ the .012 from a set of "jazz" strings - and try to bend it! As for string spacing, that's entirely subjective. To some (ME), the strings on my friend's Yamaha are indeed too close together. I'll have no trouble stating that opinion until the day I've become comfortable w/ it (IF that ever happens). Then, I'll be happy to say "The strings are spaced perfectly!" :)

PEACE

: Hey Glen,
: I beg to differ a little bit. I tried to only address the issues that were stated as facts rather than opinion, and if you read my post again I tried not to give to much opinion either. I really would not dis someone's "opinion". Things were stated to the effect that "strings are to close together"/ "B strings are sloppy"/ "a thicker string would bring more tension", and these things just are not exactly true and are not exactly informed advice for someone who does not know much.(referring to the original post) And I really wanted to point out some things about 5's that no one mentioned. Meant no harm just tryin to help.
