Has anyone bought or tried the new bass amp by Roland? The db500 was to small I think for most gigs, but the 700.........I have to say......very interesting. I've thrown this one out in other places, so why not here? I've finally grown tired of carrying heavy cabs and a head and 2 basses and a bag........blah blah. So, I've been in the market for a combo, and have tried many. (any suggestions would be more than welcome) I tried the SWR Super Redhead: nice amp......incredible volume and sound from such a little box.....expensive but possibly worth the cash. It didn't deal with the 5 very well though. Such seems to be the case with alot of the combos I tried. I also found several unusual Ampeg combos. They all sounded good but again with the 5 problem. The new Fender line was nice as well, but not enough. I thought that the Eden Metro was going to be the winner until I tried this Roland. I plugged in a stingray5 and fiddled with ALL the knobs and really leaned into it. The little box just laughed at me!!!!!!! I've been looking for other folks who may have tried it to see what they have to say. Another consideration is the ever present $. I found the Roland on the net for $790 ($1100 at Guitar Center), which is Considerably cheaper than Eden.....anywhere.

PS- Any of the combos I found would be fantastic for 4 strings....I would highly suggest them.
