: : I've read an article about one clinic taught by Abe Laboriel and it mentioned paraddidles and left hand slappin. Could you tell me what the hell are them?. I'd like to incorporate it to my technique. Tnx!!

: Hey Alfonso,

: I'm not sure about the left-hand slapping, but a paradiddle is a drum term meaning one note receives two beats and the other note, usually an octave, receives one beat. c c (c) c c (c) c c (c). Another way to do it is like thid: (c) c (c) (c) c (c) c c. I hope this is understandable.

just a little something I'd like to add concerning paradiddles. Here's a pretty cool sounding paradiddle octave lick. Starting on G.

G G (G) Bb Bb (Bb) C C (C) D D (D) F F (F). Play it going up the E-string. It's an eighth note pattern. You could definately slap it, but since I'm not much of a slapper I usually finger it or pick it.
