Jared, If you like how a string plays and sounds, that's all that matters. However, you should be able to find a number of 4 string sets for $20-25 dollars in most stores. Some stores will only put the list price up, which they usually discount, so youmight want to ask. Good luck shopping.
: I'm a beginning bass player, and I'm looking for new strings for my bass. The strings I have now are old and beat-up, so new ones are a must. I found a place online "www.webstrings.com" that sells bass strings in a 4 string set for $10 (US) w/ shipping included. Then I go and look in the local music store and see Fenders for $35 and up, and all sorts of other brands...nothing below $30. I don't know enough to know if there is a difference if any between the Fender nickel-wound and whatever other brand names nickel-wound and the webstrings nickel-wound. I guess my question is, are brand name strings really worth it? Should I shell out $35 or more as opposed to $10, just because of a brand name? Please give me your opinions, thank you.
: PS - This isn't some lame advertisement, I swear, so don't yell at me or anything please
