: Greetings-

: I've been out of the loop for awhile and am getting back into playing after
: selling my bass ('76 Fender Jazz) and amp (VT combo 200W w/2x15 Celestion cab.)
: I ran through alot of basses and finally chose an Ibanex sr405nt, which I thought
: was the best over-all bass for the money. I only know that I want an 18" cab for
: the low B response. I'm thinking about just running another 2x15 cab again and
: use the 18" in tandem. I'll be playing original stuff, from blues shuffles to
: Badfinger-esque Pop to drop D ala; Deftones. Of course, I want the best for
: the money, knowing that it's easy to spend a fortune. Any recs. on amp and cabs?
: Thanks everyone!

Hey...as everyone will tell you, shop around, and PLAY the amp your going to buy. Even if you don't get it there and then, or think it's not for you (budget, stereotype) try it. I ended up with an amp worth well over twice my budget, because I knew what I would like, Then I found the deal. As for amps...I've been very impressed with the Peavey line up lately...some of their heads really rock, and their Black Widow 15" speakers are top of the line...SWR, Mesa Boogie, and Carvin really are doing good on cabs, and SWR isn't too terrible for heads either. Whatever you go for, make sure it's all gonna work together (come back here for tech questions) and get enough power. That's my two cents...
