: Hello..I'm looking to major in some field of music when I go to college. I don't know if it's a great decision on my behalf, but I couldn't see it any other way. I'm really not sure what I'd do with it..but that's not the point...do any of you guys have any idea on what schools have a great music program?
: and, what is the NYC Bass Collective? I keep reading about it, and I realy have no idea what it is.
This question is definitely up my alley... Come fall, I'll be attending Oneonta State college (Ny) and enrolling in the 4 year Music Industry program they have up there. But what does the major do? We study all aspects of the music business itself.. such things as copyright law, music in the marketplace, recording, music theory and i believe performance techniques or somethin like that. The great thing about it is that you don't neeed to know how to read music to get in, but you're getting a great education in a field that you would probably be very satisfied in.. Some people that graduate with this major get jobs as record execs, store owners of guitar shops, or possibly the guys that go around and watch bands play and get paid for it. This program all supports those of us who hope to get out there and make it big someday.. something I personally would like do... I think its definitely a good major to fall back on, cause you won't be bored in ALL of your classes.
Good luck man
