: i need to know if there are any black or death metal bassists out there and what type of rigs sound best for sick tone are hartkes with those aluminum cones ok or too clean? p.s. i tune down to c# and would like set up- action and string guage tips too. please post on-site, thanx out there .

OK, I'm pretty far from a black or death metal bassists, but alot of middle to high end cabs and heads take into consideration 5 string players when they are designed. Since the 5 string goes down to low B, your tuning to C# should not be a problem. As far as adjustments go you may need to raise the action on the bass and increase the tension on the strings due to the tuning. Take notice of the string tension before you de-tune the bass, it is important not make the tension too great or too loose. Either one would be bad for the neck. I'm not an expert on setting up a bass (usually pay a tech to do it), but you can start by making adjustments at the bridge.(string height/saddles go up and down for each string......tension/saddles go back and forth via screw on the back of the bridge.) good luck and ya might want to take it to a pro just to be safe.......it doesn't cost much....
