I think Whiny Boy lives somewhere in the vast barren land known as "upstate", while I live in the Athens of the World, NYC. I really like living here because there are boo coo musicians, and you don't really have to put up with aberrant personalities of the Only Drummer in Town that Swings, or conversely the Nice Guy who Always Drags. I mean it's not like they have auditions at the Holland Tunnel and there are certainly any number of players up here whose playing leaves something to be desired, but there are an Awful Lot of Good Players in all kinds of music. I live in a Brooklyn neighborhood called Park Slope, there are a lot of musicians in the neighborhood, but also in Ft. Greene or Williamsburg or Carroll Gardens in Brooklyn. And then there's Manhattan...
Bad news is that it is expensive to live here. Studios (1 room apartments)in my neighborhood are going for $800-1000, even shares (splitting an apartment with someone else) can be $600-800. Then food, transport, ain't cheap.
