That's exactly what I decided to do, as a matter of fact tommorrow or monday I'm gonna be ordering the strings. Hopefully I won't have any problems restringing it. Maybe it will also fix my annoying buzzing A string. From what I've read I think flatwound will suit me just fine, who knows though.

: Hey Jared that was a very good question to ask.There is no such thing as a dumb question,especially since you're just starting out.I would just buy the $10 strings learn how to set them up properly until you become a better player & decide to stick with the instrument.If you do then check out all different types gauges,whether you like flatwounds,medium,or roundwounds.While you're learning keep yourself open to everything possible about the bass!
