Hi Bass Enthusiasts!
I am new to bass, just started. I bought an Ibanez bass, a Soundgear, which I got a great deal on, and am very happy with as my first bass. (Small hands!!) However, I have noticed that the action on the strings varies from the top of the neck to the bottom... The action at the bottom is pretty high, and being a beginner with weakish fingers at this point, it hurts my hand. When I stand my bass up and look sideways at it, I can see the strings kind of slanting away from the neck as they go down towards the bridge.
SO....Is there a way I can adjust the neck back about 5-7 degrees so the action at the bottom is the same as at the top? (I've looked at the way the strings leave the bridge and I don't think I can take them down anymore on that end because they are close enough to the pickups already.) BTW - The neck is a bolt-on.
Another question I need help with - someone told me in passing I need to adjust the bridge so I can tune with harmonics. I have tried this, but I can't get it to work, so I think this person may be right. Any idea how to do this? Is there a book that would describe all this?
Thanks for your help!!
