You should ask to hear her play. IMO, your son will be better off learning

from a bassist from the start. Why risk him learning a lot of stuff a real

bass teacher will have him unlearn when he does make the switch. A general

music teacher will be able to show him where the notes are but will not

help your son develop a *concept*. Poor or wrong technique is often taught

by non-bassist teachers. Not to mention that she practically told you she

thinks the bass is boring. She probably thinks the bass is what people learn

after they discover they're not good enough to play other instruments.

Do you really want your son learning anything from a teacher like that?
