: : I need some help from you bass heads out there. I am trying to find out some

: : info on a bass that I own and perform with. I bought it at a vintage guitar

: : store in Philly about 3 years ago. The bass is beautiful and unique, and I

: : love the way it and plays. It is a semi hollow Fender fretless with an f-hole.

: : Its body is made of a light natural stained wood, and resembles the body of a

: : p-bass. I was told that it was a '74 first year Japanese model, which ori-

: : ginally came with 4 black nylon strings. It has two pickups and another under

: : the bridge. I am trying to discover its origins as a true Fender model and

: : verify its authenticy. I hope that there's somebody out there who could

: : shed some light and share some knowledge. If anyone has some words, book,

: : pictures, or links that they could offer, I would greatly appreaciate it.

: : Thanx from the city of brotherly and sisterly love. Peace-Katman-POB

:

: Check this out. If the bass looks like that, its most likely made between '89 & '96. Its a killer bass! A lot of the Japanese made basses of the 90s(especially the unique production ones like yours) are just great basses, no matter where they're from.

: Good luck!
