: Hey guys, I have a few questions....first of all, I want to know if an Ibanez bass would work good enough plugged into a Fender amp. Also, I need to know how good the sound is out of a 25 watt fender amp. I have my eye on a Gsr200, with a Fender amp. And another question I have which may sound quite stupid to all you experts, but are electric guitar cables the same cables you use to plug in a bass? Well, thanks alot for all your help!
As far as I know, there should be no problem plugging your axe into any kind and/or brand of amplifier. As far as the sound of that amp goes: try not to get fooled into believing bigger sounds better. You'll be surprised at the sound quality of some otherwise wimpy-looking little amps. Judge and decide for yourself, but keep in mind that, most likely, a 25-watt amp will serve you for no other purpose that practicing at home ...just not enough power to cut through playing with a band (except some quiet acoustic settings, maybe).
And regarding cables, yes, any instrument cable can be used to plug your axe into an amp. Some companies make hi-end cables especially designed for bass, but I wouldn't spend $100 (or more) in such an eccentricity, so don't be afraid to use the same cable your guitarist use (or borrow one from him).
Hope this helped. Buena suerte and keep that bass up front in the mix,
