I've got a little GK MBS combo that I use mostly for electric 6 string and acoustic upright... sometimes it sounds GREAT and I love it and I feel fortunate to be able to have an amp that I totally don't deserve.
Sometimes it distorts. Now, I play a lot of jazz, and though distortion has its place in the world, when I'm in a restaurant with 70 year olds who want to hear Autumn Leaves and How High the Moon, distortion is the LAST thing I want to deal with.
The problem seems to have to do with the amp using a LOT of power. Usually it is fine if I'm practicing alone in a room where not much other power is being used. Does anyone else know anything about this/have any solution ideas as to how I can distort-proof my rig? Thank you!
