: I wouldn't worry about it. A lot of your best guitarists only use three fingers when soloing. When you are in the lower regions you should use all four fingers as the stretches are too long, but when you are up top the frets are closer together. In fact you can intergrate the three finger technique into your style by sliding you ring finger up a fret and using bends. But if you really want to correct the problem all I can suggest is practicing scales, scales and more scales. A word of advice: never let anyone tell you you are playing the bass wrong, if it sounds good you're doing it right.

Ok, thanks... I found out another thing though, that worked excelently: I put the ring finger on one fret at the E-string, say 12, and the little one on G13, then switched around ring to for example G12 and little to E13, and then went on til I got something that could more or less be compared with a "flow"... That exercise forced out some serious stretching for both fingers, add to that the pinkie is getting stronger, because to make it sound clear, if you get what I mean... So, I'm getting there soon... But thanks, anyway...
