I have a problem with my pinky. I can't use it on the top 5 fretts. Well, I can, but if I do I have to push it so hard that my hand start to hurt after playing a few minutes. I've never thought about it, but when I was younger I trained my fingers quite alot becous I was doing cardtricks. The bad sideeffect is that my pinkies sort of slent towards my other fingers, which means that when I push it toward the string I sort of hit the string with the side of the finger, and not the top.... if you know what I mean.
Oh, and this is ofcourse when I have to strech the fingers, like from 1st fret to 5-6th fret. (Not an everyday event, but I have a nasty habit of wrighting my basslines just so I barely can play them myself heh)
Anyway, I was wondering if someone got any good excersises for this problem.
Tried doing Carol Kayes "ringfinger addition" to the pinky by the way. However, since I have to strech, the extra push isn't that much of a help since I can't strech my ringfinger as long as my pinkie.
An illustration of when I get this is when I play F-A-B-D-E, all on the upper fretts, and I keep my indexfinger on the top frets so I can play faster.
