: Hey. I just wanted you all to know you've helped me alot with my playing...though I've only had my bass for three weeks or so I can really see improvment thanks to you guys...my callouses are a welcome and warm sign that I'm getting better. BUT I will keep coming back here for help. And I do have a question for right now...can any of you guys give me some excersize of some sort to increase my right hand speed? Also, I need help with just plain left hand coordination...thanks guys!
hey Nathan.........When I was working on my chops.....well I still do.....before I had any chops to speak of I used scales and Back cello suites to get the speed and coordination everyone strives for. But you must remember that there is no quick fix for this one.......just time and patience. Scales can get pretty boring so I was introduced to a few ideas that made them a little more intersting. For example, you could play scales in 4ths. Start at the 1st note.......play up to the 4th.....then return to the 2nd....play the next 4 steps of the scale starting at the 2nd....so if it was a G scale.....GABC...ABCD...BCDE...CDEF#....DEF#G....WHY STOP HERE, GO OUT OF POSITOIN AND KEEP GOING . This is just one little example, byt the main point would be to take your time, alternate your picking fingers with EVERY note, and get out of one position whenever possible. Hope this little example helps, I know alot of little things like this that I still use to this day. Hope I helped a little,,,,,peace
