: I've heard that boiling strings in vinegar will restore their brightness and help them last longer. is this true? anyone have any experience doing this out there? i'd like to know. if you don't mind, reply with the details on how to do this. thanks
A tip I picked up along the way is just to wipe the strings down with WD-40 after playing them. Supposedly Roger McGuinn does this and his strings last about a year on the road. It seems to be helping my strings stay in pretty good shape, just don't get the WD-40 on the neck or guitar body!
