: Q: What effects do you use?
: A: ...
Survey says: The most popular effect (sometimes not even considered one) is Compression. This evens out the response (volume) on the whole range of the signal, for example, bring the low frequencies up to the same level as the mids, and keeping peaks (like pops and slaps) from being a lot louder than everything else. Probably the second most popular effect is a chorus. These are really fun to play with, and most have two controls: rate and depth. These control the rate of the chorus (speed of vibrato) and how much of the signal is effected. The best bass chorus, and for that matter, most effects, affect only the higher frequencies, allowing the low bass to pass through unaffected, preventing muddying and signal degradation. Other popular effects include Phasers (I use the MXR phase 90), Delay/echo(not as common) pedals, and synth generators. I personally use varying degrees of compression almost always, and when the best chorus I have found is actually on my amp(Roland DB-500) which i use fairly often...I also have the aforementioned MXR Phase 90 (sweet and simple) and I use an EQ very often. I don't want this to get too technical or long so here comes the end......END
