: : Hiya. I've heard that you can reuse a string even if it's broken, by melting the fat end and just putting the string on the bass again.
: : Hiya. I've hears that you can reuse a string even if it's broken, by melting the fat end and just putting the string on the bass again. A friend said he could try it on my D'addario A-string, gave it one look and said it couldn't be done. What strings works for melting? And was he wrong?

: I don't know about melting strings but if you have a string break near the bridge you can take it off and use a pair of pliers or something to tie a knot in the end, then string it back up and it will get you thru the nite. This happened to me once.....since then I ALWAYS have spare strings with me.
