: My friend is offering me his bass with Bartolini pickups. Is this a good deal for $250? Though I've never played bass I've heard that Bartolinis are damned good pickups but I wouldn't know for sure. Anyone think I should buy this bass?

Bob,everyone on this forum is probably sick of my constantly mentioning this,
but this past July I bought a Fender Jazz Bass(fretless, made in Mexico)and
the quality is very high.I'm not comparing it to an Alembic,a Zon or a Ken
Smith, but for the money you can not go wrong.$250.00 is a steal.I paid
$370.00 for the bass and $70.00 for the case, which totals $440.00.(Yes I am
a math whiz!)I want to install Bartolinis but haven't done so yet.(lazy)
Bartolinis are about $70.00 EACH depending on which model you buy; your's
are already installed? Buy that bass. Also, don't call the Mexican made basses
cheap,you might hurt their feelings.

The Mickster
