: I was wondering, how do you get endorsed by Bass Guitar companies??
: What do they do, just hand out nice instruments as long as you show their name brand?? Hmmmm...
: Please reply if you know!
Sometimes it's a little easier. If yer really, really famous then yeah, people give you lotsa free stuff, in exchange for being in ads, never saying anything bad about them, etc.
BUT - you can still get breaks on stuff if yer in a group that has some indie stuff on natioanl distribution, get some airplay, have a really strong regional following etc. If you can go to a company and say something like" My band, which has two indie releases, one of which sold 75,000 copies in the northern midwest region that we are from, the second of which we are going on tour in support of cause we got all this national college radio airplay, so we're playing 25 cities over the next 7 weeks in these major markets and I have always longed for the day when I could afford to use yer fabulous (fill in the blank, ya gearhead)" then they generally are pretty open to letting you have stuff at or near cost (basses and amps and stuff) string manufacturer's seem to be even more open to such endorsements for regional or local acts (depending on locale of course),so ya never know...
