Steve, My eb3 was originally an ebo. When I installed the bridge pu I just
added a 3 way switch. 2vol 2tone is how mine is setup. I did do a search at TBL and this is what I found:

I currently have and EB3 with two pick ups. There is also a four way
selector knob. Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought the switch was for
humbucker bridge/single coil bridge/humbucker neck/single coil neck, so
the two pickups are never used at the same time. This is the best I can
determine from playing with the instrument. Our only local vintage
instrument dealer also told me that my guess was a good one. Could it be
that an earlier year model allowed both pickups to be used at the same
time (mine is an early 70's, I have not gotten the exact date on it yet)
Just wondering if I might be missing something about my bass. I am
relatively unfamiliar with gibsons and have had this particular one only a
short while.

: Do any players really know exactly what each knob, and 4/way switch does? Can anyone describe what number 1 does, and so on 2,3,4 on the big 4/way switch? And the four knobs. What do they do other than volume and tone? Are they also some kind of phase sweep? Which one is for which pick-up? My first bass was an EBO in 1966.Then I switched to fender. So now that I have this 1972 longscale EB3, that was never played or taken out of it's case in 28 years, and is as mint as mint gets, I have no idea what to do with all the swiches and knobs. PLEASE HELP ! Hey Rumblethump, if you can answer all my questions, I'll be your best friend.Steve
