: are there any decent 2x10 bass combos out there for under $500?

: thanks

Hi Kerry.

No.There are no new 2x10 bass combos on the market for under $500.00 I recently
bought a Fender Bassman 60; that's 60 watts with one 12 inch speaker and that
cost $400.51. Just yesterday I received Sam Ash's latest catalog in the mail
and was hawking it all last night. For $500.00 bucks new, you can get a Fender
Bassman 100, 100 watts 1-15 inch speaker for $489.00 before tax.Fender's new
2x10 combo the Bassman 400; 375 watts with 2-10 inch speakers is $919.00 before
tax.A similar Gallien-Krueger is about $200.00 more.I'm not trying to discourage
you, but bass amps have always been a lot of bread for their size.Remember also,
I'm talking new out of the showroom or over the internet(you'll save tax that way)used is another story, and there's nothing wrong with a used amp.In fact
there's someone just above or below you're posting thinking of selling an Ampeg.
Some of the other guys recommend e-bay.I'm just curious; why do you want 2x10s?
One more thing; you can get a 4x10 bottom new for about $400.00 Then again you'll have to buy a head, but then agiain: New bottom, used head can save some
money.Think this out.You may have to spend a little more up front, but it's
better than buying something you'll just be settling for, then a year or two
later upgrading and spending three times the original amount.

I remain,The Mickster
Owner of a few amps
over the years.
P.S. The reason I quote Sam Ash is that they're one of the best Vendors
as far as price goes for new stuff due to the volume they do.No pun intended.
