: Hi, I'm just thinking buying a new bass to play gospel music.

Hey Ern...
Double Ditto to the Jazz Bass (or derivative thereof).
Some people might disagree with me, but the Jazz is more
comfortable for long gigs, has far more punch when needed,
and LOTS more sounds. The P-Bass has pretty much ONE sound,
and it's tough to find one that sounds real "Live". I've
owned several Fenders over the years; I got rid of all
my Precisions, opting for a Stingray instead, it does
what the P-bass does, but 100 times better...It's a much
heavier instrument, though, and does have active circuitry
which may or may not appeal to you....As always, your results
and mileage may vary, however...

Cheers,
Pat H
