: My amp's clipping LED often lits, when I slap/pop, so I have to reduce the gain. But when I'm playing fingerstyle, the output of the amp is very low. So I thought about buying a compressor.
: A bassis told me that the Boss CS-3 Compressor/Sustainer wouldn't be bad. Some other guys said that the Alesis Nanocompressor or the Behringer Autocom PRO MDX-1400 (both for rack and about the same price) are quite useful for bassists, too.
: What's your opinion on these comps, or is there better gear outside (Hey, it shouldn't be too expensive; I'm just a poor, 18 year-old bassist)

: Thanks!

Hey, The boss is a good compressor, its a tough little foot peddle. Check out the Blue Max compression. It's got some pre-sets as well as full control. I have heard good things about the Alesis. Compression is (just) about the only effect I is well worth the money......spend a little more and get something that gives you total control...AND LEARN HOW TO USE IT! Compression can be tricky...but not THAT tricky, so go out and check em out. You will be glad you got compresstion/sustain..........peace.....john
