It means that vast numbers of people are hearing what you are saying. Interestingly, no amount of technical skill can guarantee that you have anything to say - or that people want to hear what you have to say! Write a song that speaks to their hearts, though, and see what happens....

John McVie is a perfect example of this. Competent but totally unspectacular bassist for Fleetwood Mac. He acquired fame (& fortune) way beyond Stanley Clarke, Ray Brown, or any number of incredible players.

: : I posted on a messageboard about how sloppy a certain bassist was in a band, and everyone flamed me, saying "but they're in a big rock band and you're sitting at home drooling over them." They obviously think that fame grants you talent..I'm pissed..wahhh
