: Is there anyone else out there that uses three plastic fingerpicks on bass?
: I have used them for 30 years and can produce more melodic noted with a greater variety of attack sounds than I ever could with bare fingers. Think of the sound having the speed and rhythm of a steel guitar or banjo but lower frequency.
: (I am not a country musician) I just use the technique.
: If you use effects the instantaneous attack of the pick triggers the effect much more than the smooth initial sound from your finger rolling off the string. If the finger picks are heavy enough they can also have a hammer effect.

Dan,
You're the *first* person I've *ever* heard of who used plastic fingerpicks or bass, although from the way you describe it, it's not all that bad an idea.

Btw, if you've got a 5-string, can you do a little bit of "Foggy Mountain Breakdown" for us? ;-)
