: Damn, I had written earlier about a bass I was about to buy with Bartolini pickups, and you know what? The bit*h selling it turned around and sold it to someone else even though she knew I wanted it. That just frys the shit outta me. Damnit! Well, anyhow, another chance has come to be with another decent bass (no extras on this one, sadly), but I'm still curious as to where it has come from. The guy has sent me these small, far off pictures of the instrument in which I noticed there is a round sticker (or at least I think its a sticker). He says that the instrument was made in Mexico but the sea green paint job just looks too damned nice as compared to any other Mexican Fender jazz basses I've seen before. Also, from what I've seen before, the Fenders with this type of sticker on the pickguard are made in the USA, and I have the serial number in which to check with but nowhere to check. So, would anyone know where this bass was made if the serial number is #mn5134208? If you can help I'd be in much debt to you, but either way, I think I might be getting this bass. Thanks for reading.
I emailed Bass Player magazine when I wanted to find out the manfacturing year of my Gibson Ripper Fretless...I sent them the serial number and they told me where and when (down to the approximate month! - October 1979) it was made. Give them a try.
