I'm not sure how many of you out there will recognize this name, but this is one of the best, if not the best, punk rock bass players out there. Now I know some of you may hear the words "punk rock" and automatically think, "yeah right, how hard is that stuff to play"? And your right! Punk bass isn't exceptionally hard to play most of the time, but this is why this player is so special - he makes it hard and interesting. The name: Karl Alvarez Recognize him? He is most known, and probably only known, as the bass player during the last incarnation of the Descendents and, since then, for a band called ALL. His playing both live and in the studio is incredible. He's melodic, super quick with the fingers (he a finger player, not a wussy pick player, lol! just kidding, in honor of the below debate), chock full o' fills and never loses time. He's the only punk bass player that is more interesting than the rest of the band. Well, that's my two cents. I'd like to hear comments on him from anyone here that's heard or seen him play. Gnite all.
