: there's a rather strange bass cabinet that I came across at a local used music gear shop. it's HUGE- 4 ft in length and width and 6 ft deep and it has a 26-inch driver(!) with a the biggest magnet I've ever seen
: it's covered in that black duratuff material that's pretty worn and faded, has a thick metal grill like on those old Mesa/Boogie cabs, and a plate that says "BassTronics BC22". it also has casters (thank god) and a big bar across the back like on those Ampeg SVT cabs along with a single input jack @ 4 ohms. the shop was unsure of the power handling, so they had an old Marshall Superbass head with modest wattage driving it. sounded very fat and deep, but too "woofy" on it's own. this thing is a breezer too. made the sleeves on my shirt waft around. I bet coupled with a 4x10 or 8x10 cab might give a good tone.
: anyone ever heard of BassTronics or know anything about this monstrosity? the shop owner has had it since 1986 and doesn't know (or remember) anything about it
I'd imagine that it was intended to be used as a subwoofer, right offhand. It would probably sound *awesome* as part of a biamp/triamped bass rig!
I don't recall ever hearing of BassTronics, but given the number of small companies that come and go, that's not all that surprising.
