: Yo, Hey guys. well here is my question. I have two old pick-ups that i want to put in my bass. there from an old beatles bass copy. do you guys know any web sites that could help me out with wiring? i realy want to do this one my self but im not great with wiring. and second, do you guys know where i could get one of those bridges whith the mutes on the bottom of them? you know the ones where you push a lever so you dont have to use your palm to mute. any info will help. thanx guys.

First, what kind of bass do you have? If your bass has 2 pickups already, it shouldn't be too hard to wire them in.

You might want to look at the Stewart-MacDonald's Guitar Supply website (; they have bass stuff, too); they've got a section on there that deals with wiring guitars, and most of that will easily adapt for bass.

More than wiring, though, it occurs to me that you might have to do some routing or something in order to fit the beatle bass-style pickups into your bass, but I'm not sure. Work like that isn't extraordinarily difficult, but it has to be done right.

As far as a string mute goes, I hate to tell you this, but you're one of the few people I've dealt with in the past 20 years or so who actually *wants* one; most people want to get rid of them! You might want to check with either WD Music Products ( or AllParts ( for the vintage-style parts.

Hope that helps!
