: i am getting a fender amp, either a brx 200 or a brx300, which is better. the 200 has more features but the 300 has more power. who has either? and which one would you reccommend? thank you, dan
I have previously owned a BXR300C and "enjoyed" the amp with a few exceptions.
One it is very heavy to lift, about 80#s if I recall.Mine came with casters so once it got off the truck is wasn't that bad to move around.
Another issue I had with it was it seemed to make any bass I played sound like a Fender.Nothing wrong with that if that is what your into.It is a great classic sound.I own an expensive instrument, not made by Fender, because I wanted to get a more unique sound for myself. When I played through BXR it always "colored" my tone with the Fender sound. You can see why I bought a SWR system the next time.
My advice is to play as many different brands as possible and buy the one you like the sound of most and with the most power you can afford.More power equates more headroom(better highs and lows, louds and softs).Plus the amp doesn't have to work as hard at moderate volume levels.
I am partial to the SWR line even though they are a bit pricey(well worth it for the "proline" stuff).SWR Workingman's line is a great value for what you get.Maybe try their in between "Bassic Black" combo.
Hope I helped
