Bass Amps

Unfortunately, My two amps have gone to go to wherever bass amps go when they die. This leaves me in the unfortunate position of replacing them. I was hoping that someone on here could give me some good advice since Bass amps are not my realm of expertise.

Here's what I have so far:

I've been looking at Carvin and Gallien-Krueger amps. Hopefully something portable (I live in an apartment building with no elevator and stairs are a pain for lugging amps) so I was thinking a two by ten.

For Carvin, there's the RC-210 and for Gallien Krueger, there's the 700RB-210. Both are the 2x10 Bass Amps, both are portable, and both come with the compressor/limiter, and patch inputs for my effects.

Two things have me leaning towards Gallien Krueger:

1) The Gallien is cheaper. At my local Shop, It's about $1000-$1100 whereas I have to pay brokerage fees, currency exchange and, shipping making it over twice the price as what's listed. About $1500 when all's told thanks to NAFTA before I add in taxes.

2) I'm lazy and the Gallien's got wheels. That means stairs and in and out of the car is the only times I have to carry this thing. My poor aching back didn't like my old Yamaha 2x10.

There are other things though, such as the Gallien EQ can switch between four and five string basses (nice when you've got both) and the Gallien's also got the XLR out for going into other people's sound systems. This takes a load off of me for miking, for DI boxes, etc. Also, I've heard the Gallien and I know what that sounds like. The Carvin is more powerful, which is what I like although the old maxim "Let the Buyer Beware" comes to mind. I'd rather not be out the brokerage and shipping fees to try an amp that I won't like.

So does anyone have any advice for me? I'd be grateful.

Cheers

James
