: : I just bought a used Ergodyne (EDB400) bass, and when the store guy wrapped it up for me, he "tweaked the neck a little" - which, unfortunately, messed up the playability IMO (it keeps fretting out, which it didn't do when I tried it in the store). I'm presuming the neck adjustment is the hex nut in the headstock, but I'll bite and ask "which way does it turn to raise the strings?"
: : Yeah, I know - try it and see. Just wondering if anyone knew. Thanks.
: Yo Chris,
: Perhaps the setup guy just set the neck too straight for your playing style. That's easy to remedy, though. Just grab an allen hex wrench, insert it in the slot in the headstock and turn in counterclockwise. Easy!! you don't want your bass neck to look like a banana, so go easy with those adjustments. I suggest giving it no more than a quarter of a turn and giving the wood a day or so to react. Then try playing and decide wether the neck is loose enough or not. If the neck's all right, leav it alone; if not, repeat the procedure until it feels just right.
: Hope this helped. Buena suerte and keep that bass up front in the mix,
