: I'm after my first bass and i've narrowed it down 2 these two but i can't decide which one to get. I have tryed both guitars and they both feel comfortable, but which one should i have. Is there any pro or cons i should know about in these two guitars. thanx.

Well since you tested these basses out already, I probably won't tell you anything new, but....
Basically, the main differences between the P-Bass and P-Bass Special are 1. The Special have the Jazz Bass neck--1.5" wide at the nut as opposed to the P-Bass 1.75", and
2.The Special has the combination P-J style pickups. Now I would figure this would give you a wider range of tonal possibilities (The P-Bass seems to be known mainly for getting that 1 "Rock" sound), but I really couldn't tell you.
If all else fails, go with your gut feeling.
